I was asked to write a short article on how I became a transgender Republican. I was ready, willing, and able to respond.
People in the Republican Party have supported me no matter what. They don’t care that I am transgender, or atheist, or anything else. They only care that I support President Trump and our Republican Party. I was welcomed with open arms and full support! I cannot say that about anyone in the Democrat party.
I can’t be put in a box. I am a unique person. I am a die-hard Republican. I am a proud American and supporter of our military, police, EMS, and other public servants. I have always been proud of our flag and our second amendment rights. I would die for my country. It doesn’t matter to me that I am also a lesbian transman. It is more important that I am an American.
I have just begun transitioning from female to male. My family are rock stars that support me with everything. I am an atheist and a humanist. I don’t care if others are religious as long as they don’t throw it in my face and demand I believe. I believe that religion needs to represent peace. I was raised in a Roman Catholic household on my Mom’s side. My Dad was a US Coast Guard veteran, my uncle was a Purple Heart Vietnam Veteran. My Dad was also NYPD and FDNY. Our family was the quintessential Italian immigrant family who completely immersed themselves into the USA. My family thought that since they were in America now, we should speak English and then become what we wanted to be: proud Americans!
I attended Purchase College, an extremely liberal institution. I came out of the closet there. I was comfortable there until I joined the LGBTQ Union. The members were militants about everything. I protested along with them about being able to vote on campus. Protesting was not the thing for me. Being confrontational was not in my blood. I felt uneasy with the entire thought of being a liberal. I began to distance myself from the LGBTQ Union.
I began to hang out with the straight people and straight men. These men were the best people I have ever met and I showed them the same love I would anyone else. I hugged them, played around with them, and did what other people would do: treat them with respect. They have been respectful to me. They supported me in anything I needed and they were generously-spirited people.
I became angry that the militant dykes I knew discriminated against my straight male friends. I was considered a “bad lesbian” because I didn’t hate straight men and the entire straight population. The militant dykes sought me out and tried to humiliate me in front of everyone. I didn’t let it happen. These militant idiots were practicing reverse discrimination! Not on my watch! I immediately ran back to my Republican roots. I have never been a Democrat, ever!
My heart is with the America we all want as Republicans. Like Superman, we value a government of Truth, Justice, and the American Way. We don’t stand for corruption, murder, lies, deceit, undermining of our country, obstruction, bullying, threats to civilized society, voter fraud, intimidation, inciting violence against our opponents, and so on.
I belong to many conservative sites on Facebook and have been more welcomed there than on any Democrat site. The Democrats only wish to use people to support their own agenda. They use you until they get what they want and then they throw you away like trash. I am not trash. My fellow Patriots are not trash. The country is not theirs, it is all of ours. I will not be controlled.
I #WalkedAway before it was cool. I marched alone in our 2018 Pride Parade wearing all of my transgender gear, Trump hat, gay rainbow Gadsden flag, American flag bandana, and I pointed to my hat saying that Trump is my President. They strategically placed me in front of Gay People Against the NRA. I am a legal gun owner and I support the NRA. I was nervous, but unafraid.
I am a survivor of Guillain-Barre Syndrome (an illness that caused me to be paralyzed from the waist down) and Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. I took poison to stay alive—chemotherapy—I am not going down. I was a paramedic and I now work in my local ER. I know from my experiences that life is short, too short to be anything but Republican.
I love my President Trump! He is the savior of our country. Our President Trump does not hate anyone. He is not racist; he is not homophobic; he is not anti-Semitic; he is not sexist; he isn’t against transgenders; he is all about everyone! The slander against him is inexcusable and downright criminal. People like me are the new breed of Republicans, the new life blood of the GOP who have our own niche in this political party. We are Patriots. We see the truth and we will not stand for the Democrat way of life. We Republicans are the staunch protectors of the 2nd amendment, supporters of our military, and we are in the only party we can support with all our hearts and all our beings.
